Do you know the history of Trunki? As it's our Birthday, we thought we would give you a rundown of how we got to be where we are...
1997 - It starts with an idea... Trunki Daddy Rob Law entered a university competition to design a piece of luggage. He visited a department store for inspiration and ended up looking at ride-on toys. He thought about how to utilise the wasted space, and the idea for Trunki was born. Rob went on to win the competition.
2003 - A positive start... Rob received a grant from the Prince's Trust to get his business off the ground. Later that year he signed a licensing deal with a Saudi Arabian toy company.
2005 - Well, that didn't work out... The toy company went into liquidation, it wasn't the launch pad that Rob had hoped for and instead he decided to go it alone.
May 2006 - Trunki is reborn... The first container of Trunki ride-ons arrived at Avonmouth completely unaware that they would revoluntionise family travel!
May 2006 - Into the Dragons Den... Rob took Trunki into the Dragon's Den, it was all going well, he even took Richard Farleigh for a spin, but things took a turn for the worst when Theo Paphitis got into fistycuffs with Trixie...
March 2010 - The mothership lands... With a rapidly growing team, we moved into our new office - a converted Chapel that we've nicknamed the Mothership, which comes complete with a games room and escape chute (or slide!)
May 2010 - Trunki gets a 'boost'... Our first major product launch following Trunki was BoostApak. The ingenious booster seat come backpack sold out within just 6 hours of being online!
January 2011 - A visit to the Queen... Trunki Daddy, Rob Law picked up an MBE in the New Years Honours. He even took a very special Corgi Trunki with him to accept it.
June 2011 - On the Apprentice... BoostApak was selected to be featured on 'The Apprentice'. It was taken to France and broke boardroom records for receiving the biggest order of all the time!
August 2011 - 1 million Trunki Ride-On Suitcases sold... We celebrated the sale of our one millionth Trunki by dressing up like space folk and throwing a big party!
May 2012 - Make in the UK... On our 6th birthday, the first UK made Trunki rolled off the production line at our factory in Plymouth.
March 2013 - Trunki on the telly... We took our first foray into the world of TV advertising with the help of those talented folk at Aardman Animations to show off our adorable aquatic creatures, PaddlePak!
May 2013 - Our 90th award... We scooped our 90th award from Sir Richard Branson! We came 42nd in the Sunday Times FT 100, and picked up the coveted innovation award.
October 2014 - 2 million Trunki Ride-On Suitcases sold... To celebrate the sale of our 2 millionth Trunki, we had a spooktacular Halloween do!
January 2014 - Hello Kitty storms South-East Asia... We launched our new Hello Kitty Licensed suitcase, which was a roaring success - especially across South East Asia.
April 2014 - Trunki hits the USA... and our PaddlePaks made their debut amongst the bright lights of Times Square!
October 2014 - Made For Me... The launch of Trunki Made4Me allowed fans to go online and design their very own bespoke Trunki, with a billion colour combinations to choose from.
January 2015 - Boris is a winner... Boris the London bus zoomed into first place at London Toyfair 2015, picking up best speciality toy. Beep Beep!
May 2015 - Royal baby Princess Charlotte receives a custom Boris Bus Trunki from the Mayor of London.
November 2015 - After 3 years, our big legal battle goes to the supreme court. November also saw the launch of our Jurni suitcase, the next step after Trunki!
